And life, while it has its ugly swamps, its vile weeds, and its sharp thorns,
has always its fair flowers to charm the eye with their beauty,
or to fill the air with their fragrance..."

I remembered...
As I was falling asleep a couple of nights ago, for some strange reason (Emily says I am weird like that), I began mentally calculating how much of my life I have been sleeping.
According to my simple calculations, if I have slept an average of 8 hours a night for the nearly 60 (an easier number to work with) years God has allowed me to be here, then I will have slept away a total of 20 years - not including naps.
The significance of such trivia escapes me, but startles me none-the-less. 20 years of sleep. As much as I find great delight in a good nap and crawling into bed when my eye lids insist on closing, I've often thought that sleep was a huge waste of time.

...but even God rested!
*gasp* pictures of me!
Tis true, Karen, but He only rested a seventh of the time.
Well, of course, dearest Emily - you *are* the shining star on Pollywog Creek. XOXOX
I often think of similar things...
like why do we have to eat so often? so much?
Wouldn't it be better if we didn't have to do all those repetitive things?
No, they are all good for us, for many reasons.
I'm glad you wonder too!
I love the fruit basket. Great shots.
