Saturday Photo Hunt - Advertisement...
"Advertisement" is not one of my favorite subjects for photography. I'm a country girl - inclined to capture the earthy, natural subjects that "advertise" the wonder and beauty of creation, but I've made a few visits to places like the chaotic Time Square in New York City (above) and downtown Nashville (below), where the commercial elements were unavoidable elements of composition that added color and interest to the photos.

New York City and Nashville were cities that I'm glad we were able to visit, but way too much city - and advertisements - for me. This, however, would be almost perfect outside the gate to our home on Pollywog Creek...
Right Emily?
Thanks to TNChick, for her faithful and gracious hosting of the Saturday Photo Hunt each week. For "advertisement(s)" photos from other Photo Hunt participants just click on the Photo Hunter Banner or the Technorati PhotoHunt tag below. The theme for next week's Photo Hunt is "lock".

awesome NY shots! mine's up here
NY is a nice place for a visit but I couldn't live there. Too busy and too noisy. I'm with you, I love God's beautiful creation much better.

I agree.. the advertisements in the big cities on buildings and signs and in lights, overwhelm the senses and short circuits the mind. BTW,... I think Thomas Jefferson must have been speaking with much sarcasm in that quote about newspapers and advertising. I agree... not much, if anything is truthful there these days. Perhaps the sports and comics... Thanks for stopping by.
There seemed to be lots and lots of advertisements in all your photos. I would surely get confused with where to dine towards the end of the day... haha!
Please do drop in my blog to help me in a proper advertisement for a better cause. :)

Overwhelming is a very good word for it. Makes me want to go for a walk in the woods. Great shots.
great takes for photohunt, yes, NY is full of advertisment especially Time Square, I like the old fashion coca-cola sign
Aloha Patrica,
I've been to NYC & Time Square as well--boy there tons of advertising. Very nice pictures btw.
Happy photohunting,

Stop by & visit my "AD"
You know what my favorite advertisement is?
Those carefully hand lettered "Lemonade for Sale" signs, attached to wobbly, sticky card tables bearing half a pitcher of warm, questionably sanitary citrus beverage. The proprieter of the stand, and maker of the sign, usually looks a bit discouraged, so I like to buy a glass and leave a good tip.
Fabulous captures of the busy world of advertisements! I'm more of a country gal too, and tend to usually gravitate to nature photos, but there is beauty everywhere.
I hadn't been by in a while (I usually read via bloglines), but I'm glad I actually came to your page directly this time. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog header!
I love your city shots. Perfect for the theme and as a big time coke drinker I also love the last shot so much.
I've never been to either place...but OMG look at all that wasted energy! If they shut 1/2 of those off one day then the other 1/2 the next day, makes you wonder what the savings would be! Maybe NY and TENN could get their electricity bills down for the public! WOW...makes me NOT want to visit there! Thank you sweet friend, for your visit to my hunt! I ALWAYS appreciate your visits!
Never a shortage of ads in NYC! Good take on the theme...
I would dearly love to visit NY [garment district, oh yeah!] but I'd need a guide, lol. I do much better in small towns. Great pics, Patricia!
Nice shots. Have a happy weekend!

Oh, gosh... Times Square must be the king of advertisements, it's a wonder I didn't even think of it, lol.
Coke... only for the sake of Emily can I picture it actually on your property as I'm sure you'd find other things more deserving of the real estate ;-)
My Coke ad was an electric sign in a mom & pop shop :-)
great shots, I agree advertisment certainly lends a colorful aspect to a city scape and rustic charm to a rural area. Thanks for stopping by.
