Half a dozen tall bottles of amber cane syrup rattled in the cardboard box Louis set next to the take-out plates of barbecued pork and chicken on the back seat of the truck.
On the short drive home from the Ortona Cane Grinding Festival Louis said with a grin, "Can't wait for pancakes in the morning!"

The encouragement of friends ... time spent with family -- just being together, talking, laughing ... time in the Word, when God says just what I need to hear (imagine that!)
Oh my goodness. An entire story in pictures! I was completely captivated!
Looks like a great time! I especially love the walkway, my favorite way to explore such a strange (to me) ecosystem. That cane grinding machine is cool. I'd love to taste the syrup. Does one drink it straight or is it used as an ingredient to make something - like lemonade? Thanks for the great pictures!
Wow, these photos are terrific, Patricia! I love this glimpse into a part of the country that is so foreign to me. Thank you! What fun.
What fun pictures! And what a fun day to have.
Your pictures told such a beautiful story. Loved this.
