"I must try and cultivate an eye for life's mercies...
And life, while it has its ugly swamps, its vile weeds, and its sharp thorns,
has always its fair flowers to charm the eye with their beauty,
or to fill the air with their fragrance..."
Rev. John Flowers Serjeant, 1878

Thursday

If it was up to me...

I'd tell you I don't have time for this today. I really don't...

...but since it's obvious to me that my time is not in my hands, but His (Psalm 31:15a), I'll do it anyway.

This very minute I'm thankful for (in no particular order)....

...aspirin and hot showers that ease my painful joints.
...brothers and sisters in Christ who pray for me. I LOVE the body of Christ.
...God's very words that renew my mind and speak truth and hope and grace into my life.
...preschool naptime.

Now back to work.

Photos: The look of fall on Pollywog Creek (before I returned to Mimi duty this week).

Oh my soul, that second photo! They're all gorgeous, but that one . . . wowowowow.

Thanks for sharing your thanks. I love the body of Christ and the prayers of the saints, too. His avenue into this broken world.

Love, Jeanne

The pictures themselves minister to me and "make a joyful noise!" I like those acorns! Thank you capturing the beauty and God's glory (even when you didn't have time). Glad you had a hot shower!

These photos reminded me of Psalm 102:25 ~ In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

So restful and beautiful. I love how the light falls on the grasses and through the wings of the dragonfly. It is a dragonfly? Ours have long since departed the area.

I don't know how you do it, but all the objects on your pictures display absolute perfection. The acorns don't have a single flaw - pure, clean, perfectly green. It's crazy that all this beauty exists, often invisible to us, but discovered for us through the lenses of a gifted photographer.

I think Gratitude is a spiritual discipline, don't you? It takes TAKING the time.

I'm grateful for you, Patricia. I hope that we'll be good friends in heaven. :)
